comment license

under each comment there is a line that says "Licensed under the GNU GPL"... what if I don't agree???? Maybe that could be removed.

Better handling of comment licensing

I believe that the GPL is a poor license for non-software literary works. I suggest this approach for handing comment licensing: Place all comments under a simple, permissive license - such as the Creative Commons Attribution License v2.5. Place a prominent notice near the comment entry form that states the licensing terms that will be applied to the comment. Advise commenters who wish to make substantive comments under a different set of licensing terms to link to their comments in from the comment field.

Remove or customise

I agree it makes no sense to put it under each entry and not give people a chance to select their license. So the easiest solution would be to remove the license under comments. A better solution would be to switch to the verbatim clause and let people know about that clause before they submit the comment. The overkill solution would be to actually allow them to select the license for their comment.

Georg and I agree. Anyone else?

Hi Georg, I concur (and yes, the verbatim license is more than sufficient for comments). Anyone else want to pitch in?

Re: comment license

The lowtech solution is that people could put their license in their comment (manually). The verbatim license is fine by me though.-- thanks for changing it. (Actually, I just noticed that people could put it in their profile signature).
