wishlist: a blogs portal
The blogs are quite interesting, it would be good if there was, for example, fsfe.org/blogs which would just display the Fellows' blogs.
Like the front page, but remove the welcome paragraph, remove the news column which is on the left, double the width of the blogs column to fill that gap, and display the most recent 30 blog entries (including the first 300 words of that blog entry).
I think this would become a very popular page - we have some great bloggers.

I like the idea.
Maybe it's even possible to set up an planet.fsfe.org ?
Than we could also display blogs from fellows who have a own blog beside the fellowship portal.

Yes, also allowing fellows to link in their external blogs sounds like a good idea.
I got the idea from a planet site ( http://planetilug.linux.ie/ ). I don't know if it would be easier to use the planet software or to use eZ.
My "300 words" limit is probably too small. Maybe there should be no limit.

I like the idea too. Lets talk about implementation. I don't know how hard it is to install and configure planet. Does anybody have some experience with it? How secure is? How hard to install and manage?
We can also do it with eZ, but we need to come up with a description of what we what and where, a use case basically. Lets try to draft one.

I haven't set up a planet by my own. But as we talked about a planet at debianforum.de it takes just a few hours from the first idea to a complete installation so i think it's quite easy to install and maintain.
Also planet is used by many Free Software projects so i think it has no big security issues and bugs should be discovered and fixed quite fast.

I was thinking that the planet layout was a good example, but I thought it would probably be easier to add it to the site with eZ.
I haven't looked at the code, but a blogs portal could probably be made by copying the code that makes the per-fellow blog pages. The only modifications would be that it would show the blogs of all fellows and it would show 30 or 50 entries.
For example, it would look like my blog: http://www.fsfe.org/en/fellows/ciaran/weblog
And looking at the code for the blogs section of the front page might tell you how to combine the blog entries from all fellows.
Does that sound like a good plan?

integrating it with eZ is a good idea too.
The question is, if it is possible to insert also blogs outside of the fellowship portal with eZ and the complexity of installing and maintaining a own solution compared to a ready to work solution like planet?

eZ has RSS import capabilities. Although I'm not yet familiar with some of the internas of eZ, the corresponding cronjob does look promising (see cronjobs/rssimport.php).
Furthermore, support for RSS importing seems to have improved in the current developer version (see http://ez.no/community/news/ez_publish_3_8_0alpha2) so if the current version doesn't fit our needs we could try backporting it until the next version is stable.

I think we could make something like Monologue from the Mono project, http://go-mono.org/monologue/, where everybody who wants could add his orher own blog (I don't like the idea of being added automatically)
