The protocol was designed poorly, with insufficient thought given to its abuse potential; there’s no point keeping it around, now that it’s a spam vector."

I find it useful to write a response to a blog as a own blog entry. And if we don't allow non-fellows to write comments the trackbacks are the only way for non-fellows to comment a blog entry. But i think we need two features to solve the spam problem: - a anti-spam measure to block the spam - users should be able to remove trackbacks from their blog, so they can keep their blog clean if they get some spam. -- https://www.fsfe.org/fellows/schiessle

We have received an offer from Akismet to use their services 'gratis' and we are developing the plugin for eZ Publish. Vacations are in the middle so I cannot say when the antispam measure will be ready. In any case there will be proper announcement. thanks for your patience stefano

There are no legitimate trackbacks for any of my blog entries, so can someone delete every trackback attached to my blog? (you have my permission to delete them all without checking) Thanks. For my blog, I wish I could disable trackbacks completely. (If someone can do this, please do.)

I'd vote for removing it, too. I never understood the sense of it and my own blog is full of attached spam also.

I have some spam in my blog too. I don't think it's a good idea to remove trackbacks. I find it useful to write a response to a blog as a own blog entry. And if we don't allow non-fellows to write comments the trackbacks are the only way for non-fellows to comment a blog entry. I will clean up some more from trackbacks manually and disable trackbacks temporarily.
