My name is Wouter Tebbens; born in the Netherlands (1974), I have been living in Amsterdam, Essen (de), Buenos Aires and Barcelona.
A few of my current activities: Lobby for Free Software in the Netherlands. Meetings with politicians, ministries etc. to create awareness on these subjects. Petition for Open Standards and Free Software in the Netherlands. Presiding the Free Software work group within the Internet Society Netherlands. http://isoc.nl/floss (In Dutch). [In the Netherlands many people pragmatically speak about "open source". Although I prefer the term Free Software, FLOSS can be for some more acceptable, as it takes into account both philosophies.]
Making a living with the development and implementation of Free Software web applications. From Web Content Management Systems to Groupware applications. The company is called xlocal.com and is based in Barcelona and Amsterdam.
One of my special worries is the clear fact that many people in high positions don't really know about the meaning and implications of Free Software. Another observation is the need to get schools and education institutes into Free Software: as young people learn the philosophy and ideas behind it and practical software tools it brings us, we create the critical mass that is required to become a Free Society.
Several observations brought together leads us to ideas to make Free Software more accesible for non-technical people and organisations. Ideas of bringing information and education programmes on Free Software to the public sector, education institutes and business. Creating a platform where people can produce digital contents on Free Software in the form of training programmes of using particular Free Software programs, textbooks, manuals, introductions on Free Software and available products, presentations on the value of Free Software for societies. Information and education material that can be used to influence policymakers, to train companies and teach in schools.
