Free Software as Social Innovation

On Friday "nd November I attended the London FSFE event, Free Software as a Social Innovation. I am not really a techie (though I have been Free since 1998) and certainly not in an NGO, but had asked to go because I wanted to see some ground level advocacy in action.

I had an interesting day. Feel "Free" to read on...

fsfe.org has been updated

With the help of Alejandro Serrano and Ivan Čukić a new version of fsfe.org has been put online today. The major innovation is the possibility to add content in some languages and translate existing content.

Please test it and let us know what you think. Report annoyances, bugs and suggestions. We mostly would appreciate if more people would help hack on the cms to speed up the development of this portal.

Portal upgraded

The portal has been upgraded this morning. You might have noticed that fsfe.org was not reachable for a while. Now the first step of this upgrade has been done. This new version of eZ Publish will allow us to publish content in different languages and easily manage translations. In the next weeks you will see more development and the new language features setup. If you wish to join the fellowship-hackers crew to help with eZ development please contact us.

Thank you for you patience and support.

Via the LBW-mailinglist, via UK E-Petitions: A UK movement started an E-Petition which demands that publicly funded software should be released under a free software license.

Actually a nice idea, what about the same for other countries? Anyone else involved in this?
