Software Freedom Day in Vienna, Austria

|
|

Last weekend I celebrated software freedom day together with other fellows from Vienna. Our idea was to take our laptops and sit down in some public space where we would attract the attention of the people who pass by.

As location we chose the Museumsquartier (a kind of "cultural complex" or "cultural district", as the homepage states), and after some administrative barriers we got the necessary permissions.

The motto was "We are hacking for your freedom". So, provided with power and wlan from the nearby net culture lab, we started to hack for freedom. We stayed there the whole day, and had lots of conversations about Free Software and related issues with the people passing by.

Finally, here are some photos from the event.

Re: Experiences

I think we did our job pretty well, especially when the short time that was left for the organisation is considered. However, maybe one of the fellows that actually organised the event wants to comment on that.

Experiences

He, the location looks good. Is there something you would do in another way next time? What would you do in the same way? Have you missed some leaflets to a certain topic? What else would have been good? If you like, we can also discuss this on discussion@lists.fsfe.org (non-public Fellowship list) among the fellows or on discussion@fsfeurope.org (public discussion list) in a larger group.

Looking forward to read our feedback,
Matze
